Design for Art

Studio Art at Skidmore College

A project completed during my final semester at Skidmore, this massive undertaking ended up consuming my life for the better half of a year. I was responsible for the entire production, including the planning and conceptualization, user experience, art direction, copywriting, asset collection, HTML/CSS design and PHP web development.

Goals

Skidmore’s art students produce amazing works of art in a variety of disciplines, and my primary goal was to incorporate as much artwork as possible without overwhelming the information architecture. Secondly, I sought to simplify the user experience into clearly defined resources, keeping in mind the lessons learned from previous iterations of the site. Ultimately, there are a handful of key reasons why a user would visit this or any departmental website, and I chose to emphasize them both visually and hierarchically.
